When I first started out this book, I thought that it would be a battle/fighting kind of book, since our main protagonist, Deuce is chosen to a Huntress and kill these monsters named Freaks.
Although this wasn't the sole purpose of the novel, Ann Aguirre described the battle scenes tremendously well. I enjoyed the fights, but I think the first half of the story seemed to be a very slow start; the second half was when it had gotten interesting enough for me to keep reading. Romance is a slow development also; it starts in the near end of the book, and hints are barely even given before it.
Also, I think Ms. Ann Aguirre could've used a little more imagination on the names .... I liked the named Deuce and Fade, but Momma Oaks or Silk or Stalker? Bleh.
