Partials - Dan Wells 4.5 stars — between really good, and amazing. I used to think my type of dystopia was like [b:Divergent|13335037|Divergent (Divergent, #1)|Veronica Roth|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1328559506s/13335037.jpg|13155899]: action-packed, full of suspense, romance, and tough climaxes.

And Partials was kind of like that. Definitely not action-packed for the whole book, or even suspenseful, but it reminded me a lot of my first book that introduced me to the dystopia genre, [b:Birthmarked|6909544|Birthmarked (Birthmarked, #1)|Caragh M. O'Brien|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1317066757s/6909544.jpg|7134814].

And maybe that's why it got such a high rating from me. But I thought it was much more than that. I liked how Kira was strong in the medical part, brain-wise, and even a little bit in the action. I also liked how the story didn't focus all on the romance like how other dystopia-romances romance-dystopias do these days — it was definitely more about Kira finding out about herself, especially after that shocking ... (and yet, not that shocking) discovery at the end of the book.

The only thing that made me a bit skeptical was: When Kira decides to go get a Partial to do "scientific experiments" on, she immediately finds one, just as she and her friends come out of their little hiding place. You see, this wouldn't be so bad if the fact of the matter of that Partials have been gone for decades. Decades of people never meeting these droids. So how can one miraculously pop out? I don't know. But I guess it's believable if no one's ever decided to leave the safe abode of their home.

I can see where the romance is going and I like it ... I also like how there's this major conflict with the two races. Sounds beast, man.
